Nordhavn House lies behind protected dunes north of Copenhagen, where a stand of wind-shaped pine conceals the residence from the coastal path. Five linked pavilions form a loose courtyard, their pitched roofs and handmade brick walls translating familiar Danish forms into a calm contemporary composition.

The living pavilion is deliberately generous, with a full-height oak structure and windows facing both sea and garden. Smaller rooms branch from it: a winter library, an intimate dining room and a family kitchen organized around a single stone table. Five suites occupy quieter wings, each with direct access to the landscape and its own bathing room.

The house is exceptionally considered in operation. Ground-source heating, natural ventilation and high-performance glazing support year-round comfort without visual machinery. A separate studio can serve as an office, guest house or creative workspace. Throughout, untreated oak and lime-washed brick will develop character rather than require replacement.
